Behaviour In Cold Process Soap

  • Consistency Change: None
  • Colour Change: None
  • Additional Notes: In Cold Process Soap we recommend using fragrances at a lower soap making temperature, approximately 110°F, and adding the fragrance at a light trace. We test our fragrance oils using a soap formula that does not trace quickly at a soap making temperature of 110°F. As soap formulas can vary, we recommend customers do their own small test batch to ensure the fragrance performs well in their own formula.

The amount of usage will differ based on the appropriate scent level for the specific product being produced. For additional details regarding the maximum safe usage level, refer to the IFRA in Documents. However, determining the actual usage should be based on the desired fragrance strength and the product's capacity to hold the fragrance.

Absolutely GORGEOUS scent!

Lovely, light and floral without any heavy undertones like patchouli or musk. I don't usually go for floral but it instants whisks me back to a high end perfume I used to wear 25 years ago from Eatons and I can't remember what it was!! It's driving me crazy trying to remember it because every time I spray, I get nostalgic

It doesn't smell quite like roses but has a rose undertone- but a light one like wild roses not heavy red rose.

Have not tried in soap based on other reviews, I used it as a body butter and spray.

Great Smell, no good for CP!

I was making a big batch of soap with my usual recipe and used this fragrance for the first time. All was going well until I added this fragrance and Wild Honeysuckle and it started to get really thick, really fast. It also got a grainy texture jus before like another user mentioned. I tried to glob it in my long molds but it turned to a thick gel so fast, it wasn't working. I thought it was ruined and looked online at what I could do to fix it and found the Hot Process Hero method (Brambleberry). I dumped the congealed soap out of my molds and back into the stainless large tall pot (need to have a tall pot). It was a bunch of hard lumps and chunks and I cooked it all down until it melted and turned into a thick but mixable gel like mixture. After it was all mixed, I poured it back into my molds. The long molds might turn out ok and have a rustic, pink rose look. Even after that method, it was hardening up fast again so my mini soaps look terrible any messy. I mixed at 100 degrees F. I was making it for a wholesale customer so this was disappointing and frustrating AND it took twice as long to make my soap It says on their site this fragrance is used for CP soap. I find that misleading. I would classify it as not working with CP, but might work for Hot Process. I will cut tomorrow and see. The smell is still there. This fragrance is wonderful and just like a rose garden but I'm giving it a low score because it is a terrible fragrance for use in CP which it what I work with.

Used in CP

I used this in CP before I read the other comments. I didn't get any seizing, or acceleration. I soaped at 100 degrees, mixed until just emulsified, added my colors (did a swirl with pink mica and white (titanium dioxide)). I added fragrance at last. I had time to do a drop swirl. I DID however have that same weird grainy thing happen but only in my white, not the pink... so just in case anyone else tries this scent in CP, it's do-able. Also the smell is really nice.

Smells nice, seizes

OOB this scent is great, a delicate and true rose scent. I should have known since it was a floral, but when I added this to my CP soap the texture became very thick and grainy. I wouldn't totally call it ricing, but the texture was not only thick but uneven. I had to cancel my swirl and do some hasty layers instead. The scent is lovely but be warned that this fragrance accelerates extremely quickly. Work around it.

Beautiful scent

This is a true and lovely scent. I can’t wait to try it in my lotions and soaps!
