Making candles with Versagel C MP candle gel is a delightful and creative process that allows you to craft unique and visually stunning gel candles. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
Materials Needed:
- Versagel C MP medium-density candle gel
- Candle wicks
- Candle fragrance oil (optional)
- Candle dye, blocks or liquid (optional)
- Decorative elements (e.g., shells, crystals)
- Heat-resistant containers
- Double boiler or microwave-safe container for melting the gel. Can be melted on direct heat with caution taken.
- Thermometer
- Stirring utensil (e.g., wooden stick or spoon)
Instructions:
- Prepare Your Containers: Select heat-resistant containers that are suitable for holding the Versagel C MP gel. Ensure they are clean and dry before use. You can choose glass jars, glass containers, or any other suitable container that can withstand the heat of the melted gel.
- Prepare the Candle Wicks: Attach the wicks to the bottom center of each container using a candle glue dot or a dab of melted gel. Make sure the wicks are centered and straight.
- Melt the Versagel C MP Candle Gel: If using a double boiler, fill the bottom pot with water and place it on the stove over medium heat. Place the Versagel C MP gel in the top pot and gently heat it until it melts completely. If using a microwave, place the gel in a microwave-safe container and heat it in short bursts, stirring in between until fully melted. Be cautious not to overheat the gel.
- Add Fragrance and Color (Optional): If you wish to add fragrance to your candles, mix candle fragrance oil into the melted gel, stirring well to ensure it is evenly distributed. Recommended fragrance load is 3% to 6%. For colored candles, add candle dye a bit at a time to achieve your desired hue. Remember, a little goes a long way with dyes, so start with a small amount and adjust as needed.
- Pour the Gel into the Containers: Carefully pour the melted Versagel C MP gel into your prepared containers, leaving some space at the top. If you plan to embed decorative elements, pour a layer of gel, place the objects, and then pour more gel to cover them. If using decorative elements that are flammable keep well away from the wick so they can't combust.
- Insert the Wicks: Keep the wicks centered as you pour the gel. You can use a wick holder or pencil to keep the wicks straight and in position while the gel cools and solidifies.
- Let the Candles Cool and Solidify: Allow the candles to cool and solidify at room temperature. It may take a few hours for the gel to fully set, so be patient.
- Trim the Wicks: Once the candles have completely solidified, trim the wicks to a suitable length (about ¼ inch) using scissors.
- Decorate (Optional): If desired, you can further decorate your candles by tying a ribbon around the containers or adding labels.
- Enjoy Your Gel Candles: Your beautiful and unique gel candles are now ready to be enjoyed. Light them up and bask in the mesmerizing glow and captivating fragrance.
Remember, safety is essential when working with hot wax. Always handle the gel with care and keep children and pets away from the candle-making process. Enjoy the creative process and have fun making your one-of-a-kind Versagel C MP gel candles!
