The Stephenson RSPO Mass Balance Solid Conditioner Hair Care Base is perfect for creating an easy to use, solid conditioner bar, cutting down on your plastic and water consumption. Some conditioners can consist of up to 95% water, with this in mind, we decided to provide our customers with a more sustainable option. The Stephenson solid conditioner base has 0% water, thus providing 100% concentrated product, lasting significantly longer than liquid products. Specially formulated using a natural emollient to condition the hair whilst shea butter and coconut oil provide nourishment. This base is 98% of the finished product, simply requiring the addition of fragrance oil and additives to suit your preference!

With most solid conditioner bars on the market today selling for $15 - $20 for a 2 oz bar, this professional quality base gives both crafters and personal care businesses the opportunity to economically make this trending hair care product quickly and easily!

Works very well for fine hair

This conditioner base does take a bit of experimentation to get right, and it may not work for all hair types, especially curly, or those needing intense hydration. And you also absolutely need to follow the directions for use by first holding the bar under the warm water of the shower head or tub faucet. It then needs to be worked with your hands to help soften to begin releasing the conditioner. I have super fine hair that gets tangled easily and is weighed down by most products that leave any residue. This conditioner does not. I customize by adding 2-3% of Cetrimonium Chloride to help with combability. And I make sure to really let the bar soften under the running water before rubbing it all over my hair very thoroughly. I also have less breakage. But again, this may not work for all hair types.

I also had issues with the base of this product as I found that it really was difficult to work get any conditioner in your hair. I contacted the manufacturer and they responded quite quickly to my questions on how to make this product more user friendly. Here is their response:

Thank you for contacting Stephenson. "We recommend adding conditioning additives such as emollients like capric caprylic triglyceride which helps slip, or a cationic polymer like polyquats or guar. Another option would be to use silicones. Another alternative would be adding coconut oil which should help with deposition. We recommend adding anywhere between 2-3% additives total, so this would include your fragrances or other additives such as capric caprylic triglyceride etc, I hope this helps.

Not for beginners

This was my first purchase of a solid conditioner bar base. I am still a beginner, and I feel that it needs more than fragrance oil and color. I am sure that someone with more experience to make it a more user friendly product, but my end result was a hard, waxy bar. It looks good, and smells great, but did nothing for my hair. I could not tell I had even used conditioner. The bar seemed to be untouched.

Needs some added ingredients

The base by itself doesn't produce a great conditioner bar. It needs some additives..I like to use Mango butter and add more shea butter to create more of a creamy bar. Silk peptides also help make this bar easier to use.

Won't Buy Again

Thought…hey this is an amazing new product….NOPE. Very waxy feeling, hard to get out, and can't seem to mix anything with it as they indicate. Won't purchase again.
