Caring for your metal votive molds is important to ensure they last long and continue to produce high-quality candles. Here are some general tips for maintaining your metal votive molds:

1. Cleaning After Use:

After each use, and before first use, clean the molds to remove any residual wax or manufacturing residue. Warm, soapy water usually works well. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers as they can scratch the metal.

If wax is difficult to remove, placing the mold in the freezer for a few hours can make the wax brittle and easier to pop out.

2. Drying:

Thoroughly dry the molds after washing. Water spots and rust can form if the molds are left wet. Use a soft cloth or towel to dry them completely. If any rust or stubborn residue forms on the molds, spray with WD-40, let sit for a few minutes and then wipe clean.

3. Storing:

Store the molds in a cool, dry place to prevent rusting. Avoid stacking them directly on top of each other without protective layers, as this can lead to scratches or dents. The edges of the Votive mold can be sharp, take care when handling to avoid cuts.

4. Aiding with Release:

While most pillar-style waxes, such as BW-921 and BW-911, typically release from molds effortlessly, if you encounter any difficulties with candle removal, consider this tip: before pouring wax into the molds, apply a light coating of a release agent like vegetable oil or silicone spray. This preparatory step enhances the ease of removing the candles once they have hardened, ensuring a smooth, flawless finish.

5. Checking for Damage:

Regularly inspect your molds for any signs of damage like dents, rust, or warping. Damaged molds can affect the quality of your candles.

6. Avoiding High Heat:

While metal molds are generally heat-resistant, avoid exposing them to excessive heat outside of normal candle-making processes, as this can warp or damage the metal.

By following these care tips, your metal votive molds should remain in good condition, helping you create beautiful candles consistently.

  • Wax Capacity: 1.5 oz
  • Top Diameter: 1-3/4″
  • Bottom Diameter: 1.5"
  • Height: 1 15/16"
  • Material: Heavy Seamless Metal
  • Approximate Burn Time: 15 HR (Dependent on Wax)

Suggested Wicking:

  • LX 12 Prepared Wick for paraffin
  • RRD34 for Soy Wax
  • HTP126 for Beeswax

Note: Suggested wick size is only given as a recommendation based on our testing of making the candle without colour or fragrance. Many factors can affect the burn of a candle, including type of wax used, colour, fragrance, essential oil etc. It is always important to leave a candle for 24 hours after being made before burning. We strongly advise making a single test candle with your chosen wick and additives before going ahead with making several, to ensure the correct wick is being used for optimal burn.

Fantastic mold, but a bit dangerous

I agree with the previous review. These votive molds are easy to use and virtually fail-proof, especially when paired with a wick pin, but the edges are dangerously sharp. I sliced my finger open on one of them. Please be careful.
