Product Details:

The Lustre Nail Polish Base for Mica is the perfect nail polish base for any of your DIY Nail Polishes that are made using Micas. Some tips we have found include:

  • Don't "overload with color". For a single bottle of nail polish, you only need about a "pea-sized" amount of pigment, dye or mica to be added. Too much color and your nail polish will not dry correctly and may even peel off.
  • We find it is always a good idea to "wet" your pigment or dye with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol before adding it to your nail polish as this helps to reduce the risk of your polish being gritty.

This Nail Polish Base is Vegan, Cruelty-Free and 10-Free

Great suspension base

First time making nail polish and it's been a fun learning experience. This base can suspend flakes and very small glitters like reflective glitter (although my batches haven't sat for very long so not sure if they'll sink or not in the future). Definitely make sure to clean the neck of the bottle after each session!

Lustre Nail Polish Base Review

This nail polish base holds the colour very well and is very durable - it didn't chip at all, it just grew out, which was great. But unfortunately, the acetone type smell (while both making it and painting it on) is extremely overpowering - instant headache. I know there are unscented versions of natural nail polish available - I'd love to see VSC make one!
It also should come with a note to wipe the bottle and cap well when closing it - the second time I used it the cap was stuck on the bottle so hard that I thought the bottle would break trying to get it off. I had to run it under very hot water. This may seem like common sense, but I hadn't made nail polish before, so I didn't know that would happen.
