What you will need:

Recommended Ingredients:

(makes 1)

Recommended Utensils:

Directions:

  • Step 1: Attach the 2 wicks in the center of the previously cleaned Clear Glass Jar approximately 1.5 inches apart, using the candle glue dots.
  • Step 2: Choose a couple succulent silicone molds that you would like to use for this Project. Be sure to have them ready as you will have to work quickly with the BW 911 Paraffin Wax Blend.
  • Step 3: In a double boiler melt about 100g of the BW 911 Paraffin Pillar Wax Blend. Once melted, at around 180F add 10g of the Desert Woods Fragrance Oil and stir gently. Weigh out 20g of wax into a paper cup, then cut up small pieces of the Cinnamon Red Chip(about a third of a chip), place into hot wax and stir until fully dissolved. If the small pieces don't melt well, try reheating the wax either on low direct heat or with a heat gun.
  • Step 4: Pour immediately after, as the Wax sets very quickly when it gets cold. Repeat this with the other colors. If you end up with extra wax ,try pouring in only half of one color then rotate the mold so the wax will adhere to the sides of the mold and then pour the 2nd color after to get some stunning 2 colored succulents! Let the wax set for 20 min .
  • Step 5:Unmold your Succulents. Now is also a good time to stick your warning label onto the bottom of the jar
  • Step 6:Now melt the 200g of 464 Soy Wax, then weigh out 50g .Add a third of a Butterscotch Dye Chip and at between 140F to 150F add 5g of Desert Woods Fragrance Oil and stir gently. At 110 F slowly pour onto a glass plate or similar surface. As the wax cools down, use a chopstick to break it apart into small crumbles. This will look later like small rocks or sand.
  • Step 7: Now add to the remaining melted 464 Soy Wax 15g of Desert Woods Fragrance. Then pour the wax into the Clear Glass Jar up to about 1.25”.Let the Candle set for approx. 1h.
  • Step 8: At this point you're ready to assemble your final candle. Figure out your desired placement for the succulents. Then using a heat gun heat up a thin layer on top of the candle until you see a small pool of liquid wax on top.
  • Step 9: Now sprinkle the sand/rock crumbs onto the candle ,we moved them towards the sides of the glass to make space for the succulents.
  • Step 10: Add your Succulents and press them gently down to be sure they have adhered to the melted 464 Wax. Now let your finished Desert Woods Candle cure for at least 2 weeks to allow the Fragrance Oil and Wax to fully bond.

Tips:

Candle Cooling:

Cool undisturbed candles at an ambient temperature of 70° F (21.1°C). The containers should be about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) apart to allow air circulation for even cooling. The container should remain open during cooling for at least 24 hrs (large candles may require longer times). Slower cooling will encourage container adhesion while quicker cooling will encourage container pull away.. Candles should be allowed to sit undisturbed for 48 hours before test burning.

Test Burning:

Test burn the candle for burn pool diameter and quality after it has setup (cured or dried) for a minimum of 48 hours. Every combination of container, wax, dye, fragrances, and wick should be tested for burn quality.
